Transformation of the Day: Latoija lost 121 pounds. On April 9, 2020, she made the decision to take control of her health and reclaim her body. Her healthy routine included working out consistently, counting calories, tracking macros, and making healthier food choices.
What
was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to
give up?
I was in the shower on April 9, 2020, and I was in so much
pain that I just stopped mid-shower and said to myself, “I can’t keep going on
like this. I can’t take this pain!” That day I made the decision that I would
take control of my health and do better.
I was inspired to keep going because I never want to be in
that position of feeling defeated, trapped, and bound by my weight. I never
want to be in that much pain ever again. I never want to feel like my weight is
holding me back ever again.
How
did you change your eating habits?
I started with lowering my calories per day to 1200-1500 a
day, and on one of those seven days, I ate 1800-1900 calories. I chose
blueberries, apples, and cucumbers over chips, cookies, and candy. I ate
scrambled eggs with mozzarella on top with extra salsa poured over it as my
breakfast (Tuscan Scramble). Some mornings, I would eat a cup of oatmeal but
never both. I would either eat the Tuscan Scramble or oatmeal. Also, I was part
of a Macro Counting program led by Gabrielle Flowers @GabeFixFitness on
Instagram. Her program is called “Fix My Eats.
What
did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My only workout was walking and some home workouts. I
walked five days a week, 3 miles each day. As my body got stronger, I worked my
way up to 5 miles, five days a week. I also did home workouts twice a week that
Gabrielle Flowers would recommend from her “Fix My Eats” program.
What
was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 272 pounds. My current weight is 151
pounds
What
is your height?
My height is 5’4
How
long did your transformation take?
It took me one year and three months to lose 121 pounds
Is
weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery, no supplements, just all-natural weight loss.
What
is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned that giving up stops progress and only makes
the situation worse. When you keep going, that opens doors to you reaching your
goal.
What
advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Always be learning. Dedicate your life to understanding the
body’s hormones and how they work when it comes to weight loss. Watch Dorian
Wilson on YouTube. Watch Dr. Sten Ekberg on YouTube. Each of those resources
will help you learn about weight loss and the body.
