Transformation of the Day: Regine lost 159 pounds. She shared with us how she released the weight during her four-year transformation journey. Walking, tracking her food intake and counting calories are habits that were key to her success.
What was your motivation? What inspired
you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My
motivation was knowing deep down inside I was worth more love, respect, and
attention than I was giving myself. What inspired me was putting myself first
after a lifetime of depression, anxiety, and using food as a band-aid.
In
the past, I never allowed myself to feel comfortable in my skin and live life.
My father passed away in his early 30s due to complications involving diabetes,
and I didn’t want my own bad habits to land me in the same predicament.
How did you change your eating habits?
Simple
calorie counting. Before my journey, I was ordering take-out food every day. I
would eat meals for four people by myself and wash them down with a 2-liter
bottle of coke.
I
initially began to drop the weight after becoming more aware of what I was
eating. Then I started counting calories, using aids such as MyFitnessPal,
measuring cups, and a food scale.
What did your workout routine consist
of? How often did you work out?
Just
walking. I walked 1.5 hours a day on weekdays after work and around 2.5 hours a
day on weekends (sometimes more, weather permitting). I work a remote office
job, so I’m usually sitting down.
What was your starting weight? What is
your current weight?
My
starting weight was around 307 pounds, maybe a bit more. My current weight
fluctuates between 149 pounds – 155 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m
5’7″.
When did you start your journey? How
long did your transformation take?
I
started my journey around 2017. It’s taken about four years, but it’s an
ongoing transformation. My goal weight is around 140 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your
journey?
No,
weight loss surgery was not a part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve
learned so far?
I’m
worth the battle to living a long, healthy life, and I will always be worth it.
What advice do you have for women who
want to lose weight?
Find
what works for you. No two people are the same, and you can’t expect something
to work for you automatically. If something isn’t working, adapt and adjust to
the best of your ability. Be patient with the process. This is a lifestyle
change, not a diet.
