Transformation of the Day: Tildawn lost 50+ pounds and totally transformed her body with healthy food and exercise. This 49-year-old mother of two is an IFPA Pro Master’s Figure competitor. She started training for her first competition at 40 years old.
I’m a
49-year-old mom of two blessings by way of c-sections. I competed in my first
competition at 41 and haven’t stopped. I’m almost 50, and I plan to be in the
best shape of my life.
What was your motivation? What inspired you
to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I’ve
always loved fitness, and I always went to the gym. After I had children and
once I turned 40, I decided I was going to compete in my first
bodybuilding/figure competition.
I
kept going because I wanted to see my potential. As change happened and it was
visible, I didn’t want to quit. Fitness became a habit!
How did you change your eating habits?
I
never tracked calories or macros. However, I learned that you can’t starve
yourself either. I ate clean food, high protein, and low carbs. I also got rid
of sugar.
What did your workout routine consist of?
How often did you work out?
I
worked out six days a week for approximately 2 hours a day. That included 30 minutes
of cardio.
What was your starting weight? What is your
current weight?
My
starting weight is hard to answer. I gained 60 pounds with my first child and
50 pounds with my second. I lost a lot of weight after the kids. It wasn’t
about the weight in terms of the scale for me. Instead, I focused on body fat
percentage. I’ve got my body fat down to 8% for competition and after two
c-sections. I currently weigh 130 pounds.
When did you start your journey? How long
did your transformation take?
I
started training for my first competition at 40 and competed in my first
competition at 41 1/2.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so
far?
The
lesson I have learned: Do for yourself. Enjoy the process. Even though it can
be slow, every little step in the right direction is progress.
What advice would you like to share with
women who want to lose weight?
The
advice I can give to someone interested is that consistency is key. You must
remain dedicated and consistent. If you fall off, don’t quit. Just jump right
back on it. We all have weak moments.
