Caleader lost 170+ pounds | Black Women Weight Loss Success

Transformation of the Day: Caleader lost 170+ pounds. Embracing a plant-based lifestyle has allowed her to release the weight and get healthy without exercise. This mom is focused on her children, spiritual healing and cultivating self-love.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?

My health, my children, and spiritual healing were my motivation to start this journey. The fact that I was so tired of hating myself was also a motivating factor. I wanted to know what genuine love felt like from within!

Giving up has never been an option for me. I knew I was afraid but determined to find myself again.

How did you change your eating habits?

I decided to go plant-based in 2018. I started by eliminating things I could do without and making smarter choices. Then I let my body tell me which direction to go! I stopped eating sweets almost entirely (honestly, for over a year). Now, I have sweets every now and then and in moderation. Moderation is the key, in my opinion, to successful weight loss!

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?

I haven’t been able to stick with working out thus far. The bulk of my weight loss is due to dietary changes.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?

I was in the mid 400’s, and I honestly stopped weighing myself. Now I weight 270 pounds, and my first goal weight is 250 pounds! 20 pounds away!

What is your height?

5’9 3/4″

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?

I started down this path in late 2017 and decided to transition to plant-based in 2018! I’m two years into a totally plant-based lifestyle!

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?

No, I haven’t had weight loss surgery, but I have thought about skin removal!

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?

I’ve learned to be patient and understanding with myself and flow in the direction that my body tells me to go!

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?

Start slow because nothing happens overnight! Remember to always keep positive thoughts about yourself because you will be your greatest motivator. Throughout the process, remember to be kind and patient with yourself and enjoy the journey!
