Losing weight is a lifelong commitment. It takes patience and self-discipline to stick with a weight loss program and wait for the end results. Many people want to find the magic shortcut that will make the process just a little shorter and less difficult. Many over-the-counter and prescription pills are purchased for just this purpose. They are available from pharmacies, natural health food stores, and even online. But are these weight loss pills the miracle drugs they claim to be? Or are they just a waste of money?

How Does A Weight Loss Pill Work?

Prescription weight loss pills work in one of three ways. Most of the pills on the market simply suppress the appetite and help you eat less. Others aim to increase your feeling of fullness after eating. Some of the newest weight loss pills on the market work by inhibiting the absorption of fat. Over the counter weight loss pills usually contain a stimulant that helps to decrease your appetite. The only complete weight management system which I approve of is the "Slimirex?" system.

Who Should Take Weight Loss Pills?

Weight loss pills are most often recommended for people who are medically obese?people whose weight is causing serious health concerns.

Even with weight loss pills, the treatment of obesity involves exercise, counseling, dietary changes, and behavioral modifications. But weight loss pills are not only used by obese people. They are also sought after by people who want a quicker way to achieve the weight goals they have set for themselves. As long as men and women continue to compare themselves to the select few beautiful, skinny models on TV screens and magazine pages, there will be a strong market for weight loss pills.

Could Weight Loss Pills Be Dangerous?

Weight loss pills are a medication just like any other type of drug. You need to be very careful about the ingredients of any medication that you place in your body.

ALWAYS Consult Your Doctor

Work in consultation with your natural health care provider if you decide to try a over the counter weight loss pill to help you lose weight. Your doctor can assess your overall weight management goals and he or she can help you monitor the success or side effects of the medication. Be very cautious about the weight loss pill you decide to try. Try visiting www.weightlossobesity.com for general information and recommendations.

Know Your Source

Weight loss pills purchased over the internet may be coming from the garage of a t-shirt salesman (this actually happened!) If you decide to buy your weight loss pills online, make sure you research the company you are buying from so that you can be sure they send you the appropriate supplementation.

Read the Ingredients Some weight loss pills contain the ingredient ephedra (also known as ephedrine and ma huang.) This stimulant has recently come under a lot of scrutiny from the Food and Drug Administration for its links to illness and side effects. Ephedra has been shown to cause heart attacks, seizures and strokes. It is a powerful and dangerous stimulant that can damage the central nervous system and the heart. The most complete system available is the Slimirex system scheduled for release in April 2005.

Watch Out For Dependency

Weight loss pills that contain amphetamine or other stimulants may cause withdrawal symptoms when you decide to discontinue the medication. You may become addicted to these types of pills and be unable to stop taking them. The long term use of weight loss pills may increase your chances of developing serious side effects. Stimulant based weight loss pills can cause Adrenal Burnout Syndrome, which can take years to fix.

The Bottom Line On Weight Loss Pills

1. ALWAYS check with your health care provider. Make sure he or she knows which pill you are going to try and arrange for your progress to be monitored.

2. If your doctor prescribes a weight loss pill for you, make sure you follow the instructions he or she gives you. If you decide to purchase an over the counter weight loss pill, be sure to use Slimirex. DO NOT OVERDOSE to try and gain faster results.

3. Use weight loss pills (Slimirex) in combination with behavioral modifications, dietary changes, and an exercise program to ensure that if you do achieve weight loss results with the pill, you will be able to discontinue their use without hampering your progress.

4. Monitor yourself carefully while you take the weight loss pill. Record your progress as well as any side effects you may be feeling. And be sure to report both to your health care provider.

5. Unless your doctor advises you differently, plan to take the weight loss pill for a maximum of six to eight weeks. These products are not meant for long term usage and side effects can occur.

6. If you are not losing weight, stop taking the weight loss pills. Consult with your health care provider on any lifestyle or medication changes you can incorporate to achieve results.

Are you just exploding with the presence of light all around you? Isn’t it awesome when you take time out for yourself, how amazing you feel? Just keep believing in yourself and the miracles will keep happening. The right people will show up and the right opportunities will show up…GUARANTEED!

I am basking in my own light and let me tell you why. I just became a co-author in a book with a few famous people like Mark Victor Hansen, Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer and others. The name of the book is Wake Up Live the Life You Love?Finding Personal Freedom. It’s a compilation of short stories designed to motivate and inspire similar to Chicken Soup for the Soul. The book will come out in March and we anticipate taking it to number #1 on the best seller list. Pretty awesome, right?

Last weekend I attended a conference in Southern California as part of the Wake Up Live family. The keynote speaker was Stedman Graham, Oprah’s boyfriend. During his presentation he came over to me and asked me my name and used me to illustrate some key points for his speech. I also got to attend a VIP dinner with Stedman

in attendance. Pretty wonderful, right? I met some other amazing people at the conference who I attracted to help me build my business.

Why am I telling you this? Before I could manifest miracles, I first needed to BELIEVE in myself and TRUST that GOD, my angels, my guides are right here with me all the time lifting me higher and higher. I have spent too many years living in worry and fear and only manifesting heartache as a result. I am not going to waste any more time living off track in lower vibrational energy. God has created me to live my purpose and I want to please Him. Now that I am believing in ME, I am soaring beyond the clouds!

Want to fly with me? Then keep focusing on you and each and every minute of the day thinking thoughts that will bring in more light. You have the tools to do this: RET, EFT, affirmations, meditation, visualization, journaling, forgiveness, exercise, surrounding yourself with positive people. When you have a fearful thought that comes in, take a minute out and go tap. Guess what? You can do this for a screaming child as well. Tap for them on their face, collarbone, under the arm and their head. You’ll get results for them as well.

It will be great to see where you started and where you are now as a result of making you a priority. Remember, we are made to manifest miracles. Listen, trust and take Divine action. Your dreams are right here!

Right now, what are you going to do to bring in more light?

Love and hugs,

For a healthy body, it is very important to have ideal body weight. Try to reduce your weight gradually. If you lose weight quickly, you will gain it back fast and sometimes even more! Quick weight loss is not the answer to obesity.

Given below are some tips for weightwatchers. You will lose weight gradually and become fit over a period of time.

Tips for Weight Loss

Reduce fat: Fats have more than twice the calories than protein or carbohydrate! Our body converts excess dietary fat to body fat.

Limit sugar & alcohol: Foods with a lot of added sugar and alcoholic drinks are just empty calories.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.

Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, & whole grains.

Eat slowly: You eat more if you eat fast, as it takes about 15 minutes for our brain to get the message from our stomach that we have eaten enough.

Include a low fat protein-rich food like tofu, beans, eggs, and low fat milk, yogurt or cottage cheese with every meal.
No prepackaged foods, powders, or bars will make you slim.

Weight Watchers inspired me to change my eating habits, lose weight, exercise and, indirectly, learn to cook healthy and incredibly delicious food.

Now, I’m not affiliated in any way to the organisation, and I am not in their payroll. In fact, I am no longer going to Weight Watchers, and I am not even suggesting that you should join too. But I am telling you this because it will explain how the system worked for me, and why, and - after getting appropriate medical advice - you may wish to consider it too.

I first became seriously interested in losing weight when I reached the 99.9 kg mark (220 lb) in June 2003, with a hight of 1.67 cm (5′6′’).

Several years ago I had done the Scarsdale diet and managed to lose about 10 kg, but only managed to keep slim for about 6 months.

After that I tried that diet (and several others) several times but to no avail. The diets were too harsh, and although I would lose weight one week, I would double the loss the following week. I was doing the “yo-yo” diet.

In 2003, after a friend of mine told me that I looked “prosperous”, I decided it was

time to do something in respect of my physical well being and followed the Anthony Robbins’ formula of success:

Know what you want to achieve

Find out where you are in relation to that goal

Find out who has done it, and how

Follow the same steps, vary them according to your circumstances, and keep trying till you get to your goal.

I did a bit of research about the different weight loss methods out there, and somehow I decided to give Weight Watchers a go.

Weight Watchers has been around, but it has been until very recently that they developed a special “Points” system, which consists of assigning a point-value to foods based on the amount of kilo joules, fat and (in theory) the amount of fibre each food contains. All this is estimated by using a patented formula.

Depending on you height, weight and gender, you can have a certain amount of food points a day. If you stick to that number of points, you lose weight, gradually and safely.

You are therefore encouraged to “watch what you eat” (hence the name “Weight Watchers”), by keeping track of whatever you consume.

But counting your points is only a part of the whole system Weight Watchers offer. The real value of the program is that:

It educates you as to how food works in relation to your weight

It keeps you focused on your goal by requiring you that you attend to a weekly meeting to record your weight, and to share your experiences with other members.

It gives you access to a large number of foods, recipe books, and other tools that will help you stick to your goals.

But Weight Watchers does not only focus on what you eat, and how much. It also teaches you to exercise to “burn” extra points to accelerate your weight loss, or to allow you the freedom to eat certain treats.

You could say that Weight Watchers’ Pure Points system teaches you to “budget” your meals, without having to worry about calories or amount of fat per portion.

But what I love best of Weight Watchers is that you learn to cook healthy and delicious food. This, alone, makes it easier to stick to your weight loss goals because the food is delicious, and you discover how easy is to gradually include healthy food into your life.

If you would like to how many points you need in order to lose weight following the Points system, click here to read The Tao of Weight Watchers Part 2.

Because the Internet allows so many millions of people to be connected to any single site, function or feature, many programmers and marketing folks have put their heads together to come up with some really neat online tools. Many of these tools are not only useful and convenient, but they are often times free to use. We like free! Some examples include area code locators, mortgage calculators, metric conversion charts and many, many more.

Today I ran across a free tool that is available to us courtesy of the US Government. The Deparment of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health, makes this tool available. The tool is called an Interactive Menu Planner and it’s worth spending a few minutes exploring.

The tool’s original intent seems to be as a menu planner that one would use on a daily basis in order to calculate the total calories, total fat and total carbohydrates for all three meals each and every day. Because the interface is a little bit “clunky” and the tool takes a while to plug in an entire day’s meals, I don’t think it’s really practical to use every day. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s not useful.

Load it up in a browser and take a peek for yourself while I point out a few things that I found interesting.

The first thing you need to do is to select the number of daily calories you plan to consume. The number can range from 1200 to 2000. There are no guidelines as to how many calories you should start with so use common sense to select a number. Factors such as body size (less the fat you want to lose), type of occupation, amount of daily exercise, and age should be taken into consideration. Your doctor may have a suggestion as well.

Once you’ve selected a daily calorie target, select “Breakfast” as your first meal. Mentally segment your daily calories into three fairly equal parts. If you’ve selected 2000 calories, you should try to aim for around 600 - 650 calories per meal, leaving a few left over for an evening snack. Move over to the right where the food itself is located. Start at the top and select a food item from the food groups you typically eat for breakfast. It doesn’t matter if it’s what you ate today, or are planning to eat, the education is in the experience.

As you select a “food item” you must remember to also select the number of servings in the next column. For instance, if you typically eat two kiwi fruit at breakfast, select “1 Kiwi” from the “food” column and select “2″ from the servings column. The thing that I really like about this tool is that it updates after every item is selected. Continue on through breakfast adding items as you go. You may select multiple items from any of the food groups. As you continue, you will see the menu for breakfast grow longer for each added item.

Try to ignore the totals on the left-hand side until you have finished selecting each of the items that make up your typical breakfast. Once done, look at the totals to see how much damage you’ve done. If you find, like I did, that you need to make some adjustments to each meal if you want to get three meals a day in, you can remove some of your items or reduce the number of servings. To do so, simply select one of the items already in your breakfast menu and change the servings to zero to remove it completely, or just lower the number to reduce it.

Once you’ve set your breakfast menu, continue on to lunch and repeat the process. After you’ve finished your lunch menu, repeat the process for dinner. If you still have some calories left over, you can go ahead and treat yourself to a snack; if you exceed your total allowed calories at any time, a warning message will pop up.

There are a few things about this exercise that I believe are particularly educational. The first is the degree to which the daily calories can be thrown off by simple things such as beverages. For my breakfast I selected a bagel. I watched carefully as I slowly added a tablespoon of cream cheese and some jelly, thinking they would cause a dramatic increase. To my dismay, a couple teaspoons of jelly and a tablespoon of cream cheese added only 75 calories. It was the bagel that was the major offender, coming in at a whopping 320 calories!

I decided to see how much the daily totals would be affected by selecting a large glass of “Kool Aid” as a drink. I have children in the house and “Kool Aid” is available and convenient. But is it a good decision?

For my lunch menu, I selected “8 oz. Kool Aid” as a beverage. But wait, do you know how small an 8 oz. glass is? I plugged in “2″ servings just to be safe. To my horror, that single beverage selection came to 232 calories, or just over 11% of my daily total! I quickly “zeroed out” the “Kool Aid” and opted instead for water.

Another shocker was the cream that I use in my morning coffee or tea. Drinking two cups of black coffee adds only 20 calories to your daily menu. However, if you lighten up those two cups of coffee with a couple of tablespoons of cream each, you can add nearly 100 calories to your diet. A teaspoon of sugar adds only 15 calories, and that’s typically the item we’d be inclined to abandon first.

The second thing that I realized is that, with a little bit of planning, a person can still eat a substantial amount of food and stay within their daily caloric budget, especially if you choose wisely. I’m a substantially sized guy with an active lifestyle who should be able to consume 2000 calories per day and still lose weight. Using this tool can help me do so without starving and without busting my budget.

Again, I don’t think it’s terribly practical to suggest you use this tool every day, but referring to it every now and again can help you ascertain the average number of calories you are consuming each day, make sure you aren’t making any bad menu decisions, and help you to win the battle of the bulge!

One alternative method to traditional and tumescent liposuction is mesotherapy. Mesotherapy involves a series of injections of varying ingredients. According to advocates of this method, the injected fluid breaks down fatty pockets effectively and is the most minimally invasive of the liposuction techniques. Generally, it is not a more cost-effective method of getting rid of fat; on average each session costs around $500, and requires multiple repeat sessions to achieve the desired affect. This technique is controversial, and doctors encourage patients to carefully research options prior to deciding on this technique.

Doctors who regularly perform mesotherapy on patients claim that the mixes of chemicals injected under the skin literally melt the fat away. They also claim that not only does mesotherapy fight fat, it can also be used to treat backaches, headaches and neck pain. These surgeons are quick to cite a 1994-95 study claiming that those receiving the injections lost weight even without diet and exercise.

The American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS) says that mesotherapy is not a guaranteed safe or effective method of removing excess fat, citing a lack of research data and evidence. Other critics call the method "too good to be true," and do not find the

claims to melt fat away credible. They also say that while mesotherapists assert that risk factors are slim and downtime virtually non-existent, no one is quite sure what ingredients these chemical cocktails contain. Some may use various plant extracts, others chemical combinations or mixes of both. The general consensus among physician members of the AAPS is that it cannot be determined to be safe or effective until more hard data and case studies are performed.

Many other alternatives to liposuction are available to consumers. Most are unsupported by the AAPS but are widely available on the Internet and through TV Informercials. These methods tend to have extremely varied results, and are not supported by medical research or studies. Most of these alternative methods are based on the do-it-yourself principle and are backed by testimonials from past and present users of the product.

In the fast-paced world as we live in, many are not satisfied unless they achieve immediate results. Liposuction or liposuction alternatives seem to be the best route to go for many. It is safe to say that liposuction is not for everyone and often the risks will outweigh the benefits. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the only safe and effective alternative to liposuction is the tried and true route of diet and exercise. The FDA also suggests that people learn to accept the way they look and embrace who they are. The bottom line is that as one begins his or her search, they will likely be overwhelmed with advertisements and an overload of information to process. The best advice is to consult with a qualified cosmetic surgeon who will objectively review an individual’s needs and weigh the risks and benefits of any given procedure.

"I am going to start a diet tomorrow". How many times have we said or heard these words? What do these words mean to you? For most of us it means a period of time in which we will subject ourselves to torture in order to lose a few pounds. Eventually we grow tired of this torture and go back to our old habits and gain those pounds back. I have known people who have been on this diet merry-go-round for years. One person comes to mind who actually uses the words: "I need to stop eating for a while"! This person thinks that the key to ideal weight and health is to not eat. He will skip breakfast and eat a pack of crackers for lunch and then a light dinner in the evening. He loses weight only to gain it back when he decides "to eat" again. This is an unhealthy practice which has been proven not to work on a long term basis.

On the other hand I have known people who have taken part in a weight loss program such as ediets.com or weight watchers and have radically transformed themselves. A person comes to mind that I

know rather well. She would actually enjoy her well planned meals and she often talked of taking regular walking trips with her mother. She lost weight and has managed to keep it off.

The obvious difference between the two people I mention is that one is on a diet and the other has changed her lifestyle. Let’s go deeper. Why is it that a program like ediets or weight watchers can help a person achieve a lifestyle change and so successfully reach their weight loss goals? I think the reasons are many but I want to focus on one which I feel is instrumental in helping someone achieve a lifestyle change. Education.

One thing I have noticed when talking with people about weight loss and exercise is that everyone thinks they know how it is done. Unfortunately the ways they know are not healthy nor are they long term answers to being overweight.

A lifestyle change comes from a transformation of thought which comes from learning something new or a powerful emotional incident. A perfect example would be of me learning about Cola’s and the sugar they contain. Did you know that one can of Cola contains nearly 10 teaspoons of sugar or the entire daily recommended amount of calories from sugar? I certainly did not know this and was very startled when I learned it. Ponder on that for a while and it will certainly change your beverage consumption. Making a decision to change from cola to water is not very appealing. After studying the health consequences of cola and then studying the rewards of pure water?drinking water is now an enjoyable experience. When I go to take a sip of water my thoughts are on how cleansing it is to my body and how healthy it is to be well hydrated.

I know that the above example is an oversimplification but my point is that education is the key to lifestyle change and programs like weight watchers and ediets are perfect ways to get this education in a supporting atmosphere. I like the fact that some weight loss programs can be done online in the privacy of your own home. You can be united with other members and join them in chat rooms and discussions. You can share recipes, success stories, and emotions. Joining together with thousands of other members give you access to physicians, counselors, dieticians, and other motivated people at a fraction of the cost it would cost you if you tried to hire them one on one.

If you have read any of my other articles you will know that I am a firm believer in a healthy lifestyle, exercise, and supplementation. I also know how hard it is to break destructive habits with willpower alone. We all would like to believe that we can lose weight when we make up our mind. Trouble is, we never really make up our mind so we spend our time on the diet merry-go-round.

My wish for you is that you live a healthy lifestyle with plenty of energy to enjoy life to the fullest. Online weight loss programs can be a tool in your arsenal to help you achieve the lifestyle changes required for a lean, fit, life.

Abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck" is a major surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the stomach and tightens the abdominal muscles. Many people who are unable to achieve desired results with traditional diet and exercise seek a plastic surgery tummy tuck. The tummy tuck is the sixth most popular plastic surgery procedure in the US.

There are different types of tummy tuck surgeries, and the main difference is how much work is done and how large of an incision is needed. A mini tummy tuck is only performed on the abdominal area below the belly button. A traditional tummy tuck surgery is performed on the entire abdominal area, from the lower rib cage to the top of the pelvis. When considering plastic surgery tummy tuck, it is important to meet with a qualified physician to discuss what options are best for you.

To determine if you would be a good candidate for tummy tuck surgery, ask yourself the following questions:

Are you within about 30% of your ideal weight? If you intend to lose more weight or become pregnant, you should probably wait to have a tummy tuck.

Are you physically and emotionally healthy? The best candidates for tummy tuck surgery understand

the associated risks and have the good health necessary for proper healing.

Will you have the time to allow your body to heal properly? In some cases, an overnight stay in the hospital may be required, and healing can take up to 6 months to fully recover. During that time period, with your doctor’s permission you will be able to return to most normal activities.

Can you afford the cost of a Plastic Surgery Tummy Tuck? Most insurance companies won’t cover the cost of the procedure. It is considered elective surgery.

Further consultation with your physician will of course be necessary to ultimately determine if a plastic surgery tummy tuck is right for you. It is important to do some research about surgeons in your area before you seriously consider a tummy tuck. Referrals can be very helpful, and quality tummy tuck surgeons tend to be concentrated in certain locales.

For example, in Newport Beach there are many qualified surgeons to select from. Similar results can be obtained in the greater Orange County as well as in New York City. Be sure to check the surgeon’s credentials with the American Board of Medical Specialties and your state medical board. In short, before your research before you decide on a tummy tuck.

Whenever I hear someone say they just can’t lose weight, the first question I ask is if they are eating their fruits and vegetables. Only one person has ever said yes. The rest have given me a litany of excuses about why they don’t ? with the leading reason being, "I don’t like vegetables".

There are a lot of reasons why you want to eat right.

You’ll Look Better

Your skin is an outer reflection of how you treat your body. Not enough water? Not enough sleep? Not enough nutrients? It all shows on your face.

Weight Loss

Obviously, if you were eating right, you wouldn’t be over- weight. That’s a given. But it’s more than that. It affects your self-esteem. It’s devastating to your body. So much more is coming to light about how being overweight, and lack of nutrients over time are causing a shocking increase in debilitating illnesses.

Health

Are you sick often? Both of my sisters are. You guessed it ? they don’t like vegetables. But what’s more startling is the number of people who are getting the so-called lifestyle illnesses ? type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancers. Other aging related problems could be decreased, if not stopped all together by changing

to a healthier lifestyle.

Energy

If you don’t have the energy to do more than sit on the couch in front of the television now ? what do you think the quality of your life will be when you’re 70?

Ok, You know all the reasons why you should ? but you just can’t seem to get yourself past the time and taste issues. Let’s start off small. Here are some easy tips for getting your fruits and vegetables in everyday.

* Drink one glass of fruit juice or a V8 everyday.

* Eat a piece of fruit every morning with breakfast. Not for breakfast ? WITH breakfast.

* Eat 1 cup of dark greens everyday. It could be leaf lettuce(no head-lettuce!), or spinach, or broccoli. Top your salads with carrots, tomatoes, dried cranberries, almonds, onion, broccoli, whatever?. Get creative! There’s another couple servings. It could be as simple as cut up broccoli and some salad dressing to dip it in. I personally like Catalina Light for my broccoli. Try it! It worked on the kids.

* If you really can’t spare the 5 minutes it takes to cut up vegetables, there are tons of already cut and bagged varieties. Just rinse and eat.

* When planning dinner, plan your fruits and veggies first.

The good news is ? you can eat as much of these as you want. Try a loaded tossed salad, fresh green beans, with maybe some cantaloupe, or pineapple, or honeydew, or strawberries, or grapes, and a nice grilled chicken breast. Add one carb ? baked potato or sweet potato, rice, French bread, or garlic bread made with olive oil instead of butter. The whole meal takes about 20 minutes to prepare. It’s a lot of food, and it tastes good.

You’ll find that these dinners are really a breeze to make and they’re inexpensive.

Change the order of what you eat. Eat your fruits and veggies first. If you leave anything on your plate, it should be the carb.

And here’s a couple more tips to help you get that leaner, healthier, great looking body-

Drink a full glass of water every couple of hours to keep your body hydrated and working at peak performance levels.

As a rule, don’t eat after 8 PM.

Get up and move after dinner. Go for a walk. Walk the dog. Vacuum. Play catch with the kids. Just do something.

Just these few small changes can make a big difference. Try it out for a couple of weeks and see what happens. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel.

Carole says ? "Diet, Schmiet." Once you have a Thin Attitude, you’ll laugh at the word diet. No more ridiculous diets, pills or yucky potions. You’ll never need these crutches ever again. Find out how you can get a Thin Attitude here ? http://ThinAttitude.CommonSenseLiving.com
